ChildsLife knows that education is the key to stopping the spread of AIDS. That is why we developed our unique 'ChildsLife Live, Learn, Earn HIV-mothers program'. ChildsLife supports women in Kenyan slums, helping them remove the taboo of talking about the disease and providing information to prevent its spread. Once a week, (grand)mothers with AIDS attend meetings where they are taught about new treatments, health issues and how to protect their unborn babies from AIDS. Social workers at the center monitor the women’s health and distribute food, toiletries and other essential supplies at the weekly meetings. Perhaps most importantly, the women learn that they are not alone in their battle against the disease.
